Sexier on Saturdays

Hello people,

Well this week was both good and bad for the runner in me.

Good because I broke the 40 min ceiling on my running attention span, and did 8.4km in 1hour! And it actually felt good, I kept a steady run walk pace, and didn't feel shot at the end of it.  Now I just need to start pushing longer and faster!

Bad tho, because that run was the only one I got in, truly a shame. Next week I'm going to aim for 3 again.... pull up my socks and get to it.

Anyways I just wanted to share this really uplifting video I found on youtube this morning. It's by the Canadian artist Sook-Yin Lee, and it just made me feel nice!

Enjoy!

25 before 25

Yesterday was my 24th Birthday! Yeah! Woo! etc.

Now I'm not actually super into my birthday, didn't even make definitive plans, just played things by ear, and ended up having a really nice time over the last 48 hours.

This year however, I have been looking forward to my birthday for one specific reason, I've made a list of 25 things to do in the next year, before I turn 25.

Now this list is made up of things I've done before but want to make sure I do again this year, as well as things I've never done, some are work(phd) related, some are supposed to make me a better person, some are just fun. There's no order of importance, but I will attempt them all.

So here they are (in case you can't read my sideways writing).

  1. Run a half marathon
  2. Donate blood again
  3. Get a new camera
  4. Take an art or photography class
  5. Go camping
  6. Visit 5 new places
  7. Host a breakfast, lunch and dinner
  8. Get a first author paper
  9. Go trail riding
  10. Adopt a kitten
  11. Learn to bake with yeast
  12. Knit and donate 5 sweaters
  13. Try a fun hair colour
  14. Write my thesis proposal, get it approved
  15. Take a dance class...hip hop?
  16. Scramble 5 mountains
  17. Watch a sunrise
  18. Visit a museum
  19. Make a quilt
  20. Float the bow
  21. Make my own bath bombs
  22. Get a tattoo
  23. Read 20 new books
  24. Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity
  25. Print more photos

I'll let you know how it goes!

In Other News: Just booked a trip to Hawaii

On Monday, I took advantage of a sweet WestJet seat sale, and spontaneously booked a trip to Hawaii this summer.

So that's pretty awesome.

Things I will do when I am there:

Beaches, every single day

Try Surfing (but don't tell anyone I can't really swim, that doesn't seem necessary)

Try Snorkeling (once again, lack of swimming ability shouldn't hold me back)

Giant turtles, I'd like to see at least one of these guys

Waterfalls.... hiking too them.... being in them

Wear a different Bikini every day, for 10 days

Lots of other cool stuff I don't know yet, cause I'm not going till July :(

Things I will not do when I am there:

Science

Get eaten by a shark

Drown

The maze at the Dole Plantation, if Jenna Marbles has taught me anything, this is a bad choice

What do I need to do between now and then?

Get my Ass in Shape..... this will be the summer of the 6 pack ladies and gentlemen.....now whether I am referring to the shape my abdominals will be in, or 6 bottles of beer..... that is yet to be determined.

Cheers

Advice from my supervisor

My supervisor sent me these today, I  pass them on to you.

He pointed out that number 7 was of particular importance.

Good advice I'd say.

Enjoy your weekend peoples!

Fascinated with Fridays: Betty White

Oh Betty, she recently celebrated her 90th birthday. I recently red her new book:  if you ask me. (and  of course you won't)

This book was quite simply one of the cheeriest things a person could ever read. I went through it in about 3 hours, and smiled the whole time, no matter the topic. It's bassically a collection of stories from the course of her life dealing with an assortment of topics. More importantly if features a sections about animals, how much she loves them, and why they're just all around better than people.

I immediately gave my copy of this book to a friend to read, and now I'm recommending it to you all. If everyone could just aspire to be as genuinely a wonderful person as Betty White, then I'm pretty sure we could achieve world peace, an end to climate change, and save all the endangered species from extinction.

Another person we should all be more is George Takei, but that's another story for another day, right now I found this on his facebook, and laughed out loud.

Great advice Betty, so now I just need to grow a vagina, and rock some serious myography experiments next week.

Happy Friday all!
