Happy November First everyone! You know what that means, I get to show you what I wore for halloween this year. After briefly considering dressing like my supervisor, I settled on one awesome prop and two amazing costumes.
The prop?
A 6 foot (plus) long black whip.
The Costumes?
One safe for work, one not so much.
And in true Sara fashion, I didn't get any photos in the while I was actually wearing them (no room for cameras in costumes right?) and so I dressed up again just for you!
For this one, all I needed was the whip and the hat... the rest is just a tan shirt dress (Forever21), brown leather jacket (Zara) black leggings (Express) and brown boots (Nine West). Needless to say everyone had fun trying to crack that whip!
Ah cat woman... I mean it is a Batman year, but who wants to be like everyone else and dress up as Anne Hathaway cat woman (I mean it's not even a costume) when you can be Michelle Pfeiffer instead. The mask and corset I go online. For the rest I bought 3 pairs of fake leather leggings from Sirens (like $15 total) and got sewing.... make sure to use white thread and leave all your ends hanging. I also had a pair of black gloves with metal claws (metal hair clips from the craft department) poked through them (use black hockey tape to secure) but I lost them or something.
So that's what I wore this year, but while I'm in the sharing mood, here's some of the costumes of years past.... you'll notice 2 things: 1) I'm a huge nerd and 2) I never remember to take good pics!
Happy Halloween ladies, hope you had a great time!

Last Week in Photos
Started the week off with a cute date outfit... and went on a date with a very nice boy (although this wasn't the outfit for that date :P) dress from H&M, tights Forever21, boots Minnetonka, necklace Spring. Crappy cell phone mirror pic I know... but at least it's an outfit!
Took Thursday off work to go skiing for 2dollars at Mt. Norquay. First time skiing on a real mountain! and I didn't even fall once. Poor Sarah had her eyes closed in all the pics tho. (Furry hat H&M, brand new jacket DC)
And since the weather has been soooo nice, yesterday we took a walk along to Bow River, and enjoyed what is probably fake spring.
All you needed outside was a cozy sweater and you were good to go, which is amazing for Calgary in early march. (Sweater Forever21, boots Minnetonka... skinny jeans from somewhere?)
I especially love the way the ice looks when it's starting to break up. Hopefully this chinook weather will last all of the way to actual spring.

Picked a PhD
So I've decided who really needs a master's degree? I mean I've worked in a lab for the past 8 months, and had several excellent lab positions/experiences before that. And I've just let Long Hair (my boss/supervisor... who does in fact have long hair for a man) and one of his colleagues talk me into just applying right into the PhD program next year.
Well there's a 4 year commitment decided upon in a hour.... well not really an hour, this is something I've been talk with myself about for the last 4 months. So hurray! it's all decided and stuff.
In other news, I moved up to my new lab today... going to take a break (kinda) from mesenterics and spend some time learning about myometrium. Here's a look around.
Well not really a look around, labs are all confidential and stuff... so instead it's just a generic back drop style shot. As for that totally awesome shirt I'm wearing, it's vintage liz claiborne, picked it up for 5 bucks on ebay. The belt is from pac sun.... its was cheep... that's all I know about it. Oh I found it here.
Anyways, this is the face of someone committed to being a student till she's 27 (minimum).
